Hello! Welcome to a page that summarizes the Pennacook tribe, and a figure in their tribe, Wannalancet. I hope you can learn something about this Native American tribe and their importance to our community–especially here in Tyngsborough. Learning about the history of this land and the people behind it helps us gain a better understanding of our past, to better grasp our ancestor’s priorities, but most importantly—to learn and teach more about what to and not to do for the betterment of the next generations.
From A Bend in the River by John Pendergast, Pg 68. The Merrimack River was a river used by many Native American groups, such as the Pennacook tribe, and was used from fishing to hunting--playing a huge part in their lives.
